UPDATE: Retro Pay policy grievance settled

The policy grievance was scheduled to be heard on December 8, 2014.  Prior
to that date, AUPE and the University of Calgary began discussions to
resolve the grievance.

We have now reached a settlement for the outstanding policy grievance that
we feel is reasonable given the circumstances.

In summary, the settlement is that current Local 52 Members who were hired
between April 1, 2012 and the date of implementation of the negotiated
increase. (September 17th, 2012) Any such Local 52 Members who were
previously denied the negotiated increase will now have their salaries
adjusted. Adjustments will be on a compound basis to reflect receipt of
the negotiated increase retro active to April 1, 2012 or date of hire
whichever is earlier.

In early February, the University of Calgary will be notifying each
affected AUPE member of the settlement.  Affected Local 52 members will
realize the applicable changes on their February 10, 2015 pay.  Details of
the adjustments will be available online from the University as of
February 4, 2015.

If you have any questions regarding the application of this settlement,
please reach out first to University payroll to ask for detailed
explanations.  Once you hear from payroll, if you believe you have been
paid incorrectly, please contact your Union Steward for assistance.

We thank you for your patience, as the process did not proceed as quickly
as we would have hoped. However we are pleased with the result of the
settlement for our Local 52 Members.
